YONKERS, N.Y. - Catherine McGarvey of Yonkers died June 26. She was 88.
McGarvey was born on Sept. 3, 1924, in County Tyrone, Ireland, to Michael and Margaret Keenan. She was a retired nurse at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. She was a member of The Tyrone Society, Ancient Order of Hibernians and was active in St. Ann's Church Parish.
McGarvey is survived by her children, James Michael (Fran), John (Linda), Brian (Julie), Sheila (Michael Miller), Theresa, Geraldine and Eileen (Kevin Krug) McGarvey; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Mulrey.
She was predeceased by her husband, James; a sister, Rose Fox; and brothers, John and Michael Keenan.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 28, at the Flower Funeral Home Inc., 714 Yonkers Ave.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 29 at St. Mary's Church, Yonkers. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.
