Bart Panessa, 79, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Bart Panessa, 79, a lifetime Yonkers resident, died Saturday, June 13.

He was a graduate of Iona Prep and Fairfield University and served in the U.S. Army from 1961-63.

For 10 years until his retirement, he was the road supervisor for Empress Ambulance Corp and was a dedicated member of the Armando Rauso Amvets Post, and an avid New York sports fan.

He was also an active parishioner of Christ the King Church, where he was an usher and served on the county fair and finance committees.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (O'Rourke) Panessa; children Maria Lisanti, Bart Panessa Jr. and Laura Flood; two brothers, Frank (Eleanor) Panessa and Andrew (Cyndi) Panessa, and two grandchildren.

Visitation is Tuesday, from 2-8 p.m. at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 17, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, followed by interment at St. Mary Cemetery.
