Anna Accosta, 98, Formerly Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Anna Accosta, formerly of Yonkers, died Dec. 5. She was 98.

Born and raised in Yonkers, she was the daughter of Samuel and Nobola Marotto. She married Frank R. Accosta in Yonkers in 1933. After her retirement, she moved to Tamarac, Fla., where she was a member of the Italian-American Club and sang in the choir at St. Malachy Church.

Anna Accosta loved to cook and bake, especially for her friends and family. Most recently of Ardsley, she also enjoyed tending her garden.

Accosta is survived by a son, Robert (Rina) Accosta; two sisters, Carmella and Martha; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband; seven sisters, Rose, Louise, Nancy, Mary, Jean, Antoinette and Florence; and two brothers, Sam and Patrick.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. A liturgy of the word will be read at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford.
