Anita Persise, 95, Worked For The Office Of The Aging In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - Anita Persise nee (Zabavnik) of Yonkers died Wednesday, Dec. 3. She was 95.

Persise was born April 6, 1919, to Joseph and Katherine (Komar) Zabavnik, in Yonkers, where she was raised and attended local schools. She was the outreach coordinator for the Office of the Aging for the City of Yonkers for over 12 years; retiring in 1985. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mother's, Mothers Guild Monastery Players, Monastery News and a former leader with both the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts; and most recently the Senior Kids.

Persise is survived by her daughters, Patricia Smith and Katherine Lauscha; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Georgina Kerr. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Lawrence Persise; son, Daniel; and sisters, Mary Redmond; Katherine Polachek and Barbara Bordas.

Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 8 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 9 in Sacred Heart Church. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
