Angelina Brusco, 96, Formerly of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Angelina Brusco, a former Yonkers resident, died June 23. She was 96. 

She was born Sept. 4, 1915, in Fiumefreddo, Italy, to Luigi and Teresina Chilelli Pagnotta. She married Fiore Brusco in Italy on Feb. 22, 1934. Brusco emigrated to the U.S. in 1946 and lived in New York City for 10 years before moving to Yonkers, N.Y., and then to New Canaan. 

She is survived by a son, Louis (Angela) Brusco, of Yonkers; a daughter, Teresa (Michael) Downey, of New Canaan; a sister, Ida Zimbaro, of New York City; a daughter-in-law, Elvira Brusco, of Scarsdale, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Edward Flanagan, of New Canaan; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by her husband; a son, John; a daughter, Gloria Brusco Flanagan; two brothers, Francesco and Vincent; and two sisters, Maria and Rosina;.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at F. Ruggiero and Sons Funeral Home in Yonkers. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.
