Albert R. Popot, 72, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. –Albert R. (Mickey) Popot, of Yonkers, died Wednesday, Dec. 16. He was 72.

He was born April 12, 1943, to James and Marie (nee Brown) Popot in Yonkers, graduating from Gorton High School and serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Popot was a longtime member of the Yonkers Fire Department; retiring in 2003.

He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings, James, Marie, Alice, Joan and Jane.

Popot is survived by his wife Mary, two daughters, Janine of Mt. Kisco and Rita Ryan-Popot of Boston, two grandchildren, and sister Isabelle Engel.

The Whalen & Ball Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hudson River Keepers Association, 20 Secor Road, Ossining, NY 10562.
