YONKERS, N.Y. Adele Krajewski, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died Sept. 18 after a 19-month battle with lung cancer. She was 93.
Krajewski attended Yonkers schools and worked at local restaurants. She met her husband, John, at Yonkers Canuc Club and they married in 1938. He died in 1976.
She was involved in politics and her senior groups and enjoyed crocheting. She worked various waitress positions throughout her life, mostly at the Polish Community Center for 23 years and at Otis Elevator for 18 years, before retiring in 1983.
Krajewski is survived by a sister, Julie Rothang; four sons, John (Andrea) Krajewski, of Virginia, Edward (Phyllis) Krajewski, of Carmel, Andrew (Donna) Krajewski, of Carmel and Stanley (Pam) Krajewski, of Holmes; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Casmir Markowski; and three sisters, Frances Miller, Stephanie Podlaski and Josie Grippo.
There will be a wake service from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home in Carmel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Friday at St. James the Apostle Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Yonkers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a favorite charity.
