The Yonkers Film Festival, dubbed YoFi Fest, will premiere October 11 through 13 at the Riverfront Library, Mayor Mike Spano has announced. The inaugural event will give movie fans and professionals a weekend to watch and talk about the films, organizers said.
“We are thrilled to host our first, of hopefully many, film festivals here in Yonkers,” Spano said in a statement. “Easily accessible to all filmmakers and film lovers, Yonkers is a natural fit to be the next hot bed of cinematic discovery.”
Set to be on display are feature films, short films, documentaries, animation, music videos and student work from emerging artists. Attendees will also have a chance to talk with industry professionals during a series of lectures, discussions lunches and parties set to be hosted.
"The growing number of artists and audiences in Yonkers and the surrounding areas make this a perfect place to hold a film festival," said Dave Steck, the festival's Executive Director, from Numeric Pictures.
Film makers will can begin sending their submissions next month. A complete lineup of films and events will be announced this summer.
