Paul Diamond, along with union President Pat Puleo, was recently featured in a video released by activists with Project Veritas in which he appears to advise someone impersonating a teacher on how to cover up hitting a child in an unnamed school, according to lohud.com.
The Yonkers Federation of Teachers has asked the city’s public school district to pay Diamond while he performs his union duties through the next school year, according to lohud.com.
The request comes less than a week after numerous leaders in city government called for Diamond and Puleo to resign from their positions and for the city’s Board of Education to stop union contract talks, according to lohud.com.
A spokesman for the union told lohud.com that the request for Diamond to continue his role was “routine and unrelated to the video controversy,” according to lohud.com.
