YONKERS, N.Y. – Educators say unless Gov. Andrew Cuomo steps in with more funding, Yonkers Public Schools will be forced to lay off 101 people, including 60 teachers, according to News 12 Westchester.
The district is facing a $26 million funding deficit with only six weeks remaining in the legislative session, News 12 reported.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Nader Sayegh, school board president, are urging people to get the word out about the situation, according to News 12.
