Yonkers Police Athletic League Raising Funds For Philippines

YONKERS, N.Y. - The Yonkers Police Athletic League and the "A Prayer 4 Alex Foundation" are hosting a Bingo Fundraiser Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Yonkers PAL with all proceeds going to aid to the Philippines where a devastating storm killed thousands earlier this month.

Yonker PAL's Vic Federico said the event has special meaning to the youngsters in the PAL girls softball program, who lost a friend and teammate Alexandra Cancro to cancer earlier this year.

"Everything we bring in Sunday will go to the Philippine people," Federico said. "There is a special meaning to this, for we at the PAL are doing it jointly with "A Prayer 4 Alex Foundation". Alex's parents are from the Philippines and will send whatever we collect (cash, checks, food, clothing) to the Philippines."
