Yonkers Native Expected To Be Nominated As FBI Director

YONKERS, N.Y. - Yonkers native James Comey is expected to be nominated by President Barack Obama Friday as the next director of the FBI.

According to multiple reports, Comey will officially be nominated Friday afternoon. 

Comey would replace Robert Mueller, who has served for 12 years. Following a formal nomination, Comey would have to be confirmed by the Senate.

Comey served as Deputy Attorney General, the second-highest ranking official in the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and ran the day-to-day operations of the Department, from December 2003 through August 2005. He was U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York prior to becoming Deputy Attorney General.
