The death of Jennifer Berry's 2 1/2 week old baby boy, who died that March in Yonkers, was attributed by the Westchester medical examiner to natural causes, specifically sudden infant death syndrome, according to an article on lohud.com.
That baby had been taken to the hospital once in his short life before he was found dead in a bassinet at home, lohud said.
Berry, a former child services worker, gave birth to her daughter Monday in her boyfriend's Bronx apartment and is accused of then tossing the girl out the window on Monday, lohud said.
Officers said they found the infant in a courtyard with her umbilical cord still attached. The girl was found unconscious and unresponsive in the rear of 130 W. 183rd St. around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, lohud said.
The infant was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death was ruled a homicide, meaning she had been born alive. An autopsy revealed the girl died of blunt force injuries, lohud said.
Berry is charged with murder and manslaughter. She is being held without bail at the Rose M. Singer Center in Elmhurst and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, according to the New York City Department of Correction, lohud said.
