Yonkers Mayor Launches Fiscal Crisis Website

YONKERS, N.Y. – Yonkers fiscal crisis is always a concern for residents, and with that in mind, Mayor Mike Spano launched a website Monday that allows people to keep informed.

“There’s a lot of misinformation out there about the City’s fiscal state,” Spano said in a press release. “The goal of this site is to provide our residents with the transparency they deserve.”

The site, at www.yonkerscontrolsspending.com, will include updates on the where the city stands financially, and each step that has and will be taken to get Yonkers through the crisis. The site will also feature issues that are being debated.

Spano used the announcement to focus on the current financial crisis in the Fire Department.

“Currently we are dealing with fiscal matters pertaining to the Fire Department,” Spano said. “This site will allow residents to see outlined and detailed information on how an abuse of the sick time policy has led to over $8 million in overtime costs yearly.”

Spano said that the site will explain in full how the city plans to curb the overtime costs.

“I encourage everyone to review the site to learn the truth of how we got here and what we are looking to do,” he said.
