Yonkers May Increase Sales Tax To Aid Schools

YONKERS, N.Y. – If state officials approve of the proposal, sales taxes in Yonkers could be the same rate as New York City’s for the next three years, according to lohud.com.

The proposed .5 percent increase would provide nearly $15 million in additional funding for Yonkers Public Schools, lohud.com reported.

If approved, the sales tax increase would take effect in September, according to lohud.com.
