Also in attendance: executives from Brooks Shopping Centers, LLC,the property’s owner, and LodgeWorks Partners, the developer.
The eight-story hotel, anchored between a Chipotle, Westchester Community College and New York & Company in the middle of Cross County Shopping Center, features 155 guest rooms, meeting and conference space, a fitness center, a coffee and cocktails bar, and an indoor pool (not yet open), with rooms that range from $150 to $200 a night.
According to LodgeWorks President Mike Daood, the mall offers a lively setting for guests looking for something beyond the staid office park. Leisure and business travelers have been checking into the contemporary hotel since its soft opening on April 29.
Just before the ribbon was cut, Mayor Spano called the property's debut as a "great day for Yonkers and a great day for Westchester," as the hotel brings hundreds of new jobs to the area. "Yonkers is in the midst of a renaissance and we're thrilled to welcome such a respected marquee brand to our area. This partnership brings another dynamic layer to Yonkers."
The hotel is located at 7000 Mall Walk, (914) 377-1400, www.newyorkyonkers.place.hyatt.com/.
