Yonkers Halloween Shop Has A Costume For Everyone

YONKERS N.Y. – Halloween is right around the corner, and with everyone searching for the perfect costume, one shop in Yonkers boasts it has something for everyone.

Suzette's Halloween Village in the Cross County Shopping Center attempts to touch on all of the important costumes, as well as the lesser-known ones, too, said manager Isaac Sagman. The store has more 500 costumes. It carries prop weapons, wigs, makeup, masks and an array of accessories.

"It's hard say what specific costume is the most popular overall, because boys, girls, kids and adults all like different things," Sagman said. "But if I have to pick one genre, it would be superheroes, especially after 'The Avengers' movie came out. Everything from Iron Man to Captain America is really hot right now."

While many children want to buy their costumes as soon as possible to show off, most adults wait until the last minute to shop, Sagman said.

"It's great that people come in and try things on, because that's also part of the allure to the holiday," he said. "At the end of the day, it's great that people are still able to enjoy this day where they can dress up and just have fun."

Yonkers resident Chris Jackson, 19, said Halloween is one of his favorite holidays.

"I usually don't buy a full costume, because all I care about is having the craziest, most unique costume out of all my friends," Jackson said. "It's just like everybody gets to do whatever they want to, go out have fun and pretend to be someone else."

Sagman said, "Business is good and I'm happy with it. The mall is happy with our presence here, as are the residents from Yonkers, Bronxville and all over who continuously come here and make our store so successful."

Suzette's Halloween Village is in the Cross County Shopping Center, 8000 Mall Walk, Yonkers. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. For more information call 914-476-7666.
