Officers were called to the Stratton Street apartment at 1:08 a.m., when the parents realized they would not have time to get to the hospital before the baby was born.
Members of Yonkers ESU assisted Empress Ambulance personnel in the birth of the healthy baby boy, who weighed in at seven pounds, nine ounces and is 19 inches long.
According to police officials, the mother and child are doing well at St. John’s Riverside Hospital.
Officials said early this afternoon, the ESU officers and a representative of Empress Ambulance came to the hospital to check on the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous.
The mother asked for the Officers first names and said her son would be named “Anthony,” in honor of them, specifically Officer Anthony Scaramuzzo, who assisted in the birth.
