Yonkers Council Puts Forward Living Wage Law

YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Yonkers City Council introduced a local Living Wage Law that would require the city and businesses that receive tax breaks to compensate workers around $15 dollars an hour with health benefits.

Council President Chuck Lesnick, Majority Leader Wilson Terrero, and Council members Christopher Johnson and Michael Sabatino support the proposed legislation, based on a bill previously passed by the council in 2006, but later vetoed by former Mayor Philip Amicone.
