YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Yonkers City Council recently approved a law that will provide a school-tax exemption for military veterans, according to LoHud.com.
The exemption calls for a 15 percent reduction in residential property assessment. Further reductions are available for veterans who served in combat zones, LoHud.com reported.
Yonkers is the first major city to adopt the exemption since Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the legislation in December, LoHud.com said.
