Yonkers 4-Year-Old Girl Dies After Accidentally Shooting Herself

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Makayla Manners, the 4-year-old Yonkers girl who accidentally shot herself in the face late Monday night, has died, according to multiple reports.

Manners injured herself just after 10:30 p.m. on Monday. Relatives heard a gunshot fired while her mother was allegedly outside with her boyfriend, reported News 12 Westchester.

Police recovered a semi-automatic handgun from the Walnut Street home, but the origins of the gun were still being investigated.

Although Manners was expected to survive the accident, hospital officials reported that she died at Jacobi Medical Center on Friday, reported News 12 Westchester.
