Update: Building Evacuated In Yonkers, 500 Without Power After Storm

UPDATE: 2:20 p.m. - Part of a roof blew off a building on Willow Street in Yonkers, Monday, the city announced. Residents of the building have been evacuated because wires came down in the area. The number of people without power is down to about 500, the city said.

YONKERS, N.Y. - More than 700 people in Yonkers were without power Monday afternoon after a heavy storm blew through the area.

The city announced on Twitter that there were reports of live wires down on Willow Street. In addtion, Riverdale Avenue was closed southbound between Ludlow and Morris. The city said the road would reopen before the evening rush hour.

ConEd was working to restore power to more than 700 people, the city announced.

Several trees were down on Riverdale Avenue and crews were working to remove them.
