Suspect Charged In Stabbing, Robbery Of Livery Driver In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Police have apprehended a suspect in the assault and robbery of a 38-year-old male livery driver last week.

The suspect, identified as 62-year-old Pedro Estrada was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon by Yonkers Detectives and was charged Wednesday in Yonkers Criminal Court with Robbery in the first degree and assault in the first degree. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail.

The assault, which involved a stabbing, occurred in the parking area of 1010 North Broadway on Wednesday, March 23, police said.

Investigation has revealed that the victim ) had picked up a fare and was traveling to North Yonkers. The suspect stabbed the victim in the neck inside of the vehicle. 

The victim then fled the vehicle and ran into the emergency room of the nearby St. John's Hospital, police said. 

The suspect then fled in the victim's vehicle, which was later located by patrol units unoccupied in the area of Saw Mill River Road and Dunbar Street, according to police.

Members of the Detective Division began an extensive investigation including the canvassing of video surveillance and they conducted numerous interviews over the last week.
