The state Senate passed the measure Thursday soon after it was approved by the Assembly Wednesday. It is expected that Gov. Andrew Cuomo will sign it, says lohud.com.
The deal included less funding from the state than Yonkers officials initially wanted, but they plan to go back and ask for more funding as the renovation project moves forward. The legislation allows the school district to create a separate authority to borrow money for the long-term renovations of 39 Yonkers school buildings, lohud.com reports.
