The Yonkers Fire Department was dispatched to a busy stretch of the northbound Sprain near Jackson Avenue at 1:48 p.m., responding to a call of a woman in labor, according to Thomas Fitzpatrick of the Yonkers Fire Department.
Moments before they arrived, a healthy baby girl had been born in the backseat of the SUV parked on the shoulder of the roadway as control dispatchers successfully talked the woman husbands through the delivery.
"They (the emergency responders) got there just as the baby was born and provided care to the mother and baby," Fitzpatrick said, noting Engine 314 secured the scene and Squad 11 assisted with the Medical care.
