New Yonkers City Council President Sworn In On New Year's Day

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Incoming City Council President Liam J. McLaughlin was sworn in  at the Yonkers Riverfront Library on New Year's Day.

Also sworn in were Judge Arthur Doran of the Yonkers City Court, re-elected council members Dennis Shepherd and John Larkin, as well as new council member Corazon Pineda.

McLaughlin, Larkin, Shepherd and council member Mike Breen form a new majority on the City Council that is focused on tax relief, economic development, education and quality of life, McLaughlin said in a release.

"I'm honored and humbled by the confidence the people of Yonkers have placed in me to serve them as City Council President," McLaughlin added. "Now it's time to work together to get things done and have a City Council that is working with the Mayor to keep taxes down, create jobs, fund our schools and clean up our City."
