Wednesday's heavy rain caused mud, soil and bricks to bury the northbound local track.
Because of the steepness of the slope of the hill next to the tracks, and because the ongoing rain that may have further destabilized the remaining soil and a parking lot at the top of the hill, and as a safety precaution, Metro-North will operate at slow speeds in the area of the landslide to minimize vibrations caused by passing trains.
Two tracks are out of service and a third has a 30 mile per hour speed restriction going past the landslide.
MTA Bus has sent buses to the four stations most impacted by the landslide - Riverdale, Ludlow, Glenwood and Greystone - for customers going northbound from those stations.
In addition, there may be some cancellations of trains that originate at Greystone.
