YONKERS, N.Y. -- A political consultant who was connected to the Yonkers Ridge Hill development was sentenced to three years in prison on Friday after he conned the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee out of $100,000, according to LoHud.com.
Melvin Lowe, 53, was responsible for getting a fake printing contract from the committee awarded to a New Jersey company in 2010. Lowe took $75,000 for himself and used it to install a new pool and renovate the basement at his Georgia home, LoHud.com said.
Lowe's attorney said he plans to file an appeal, LoHud.com reported.
