Bronx Man Expected To Serve 4 Months In Prison After Manslaughter Plea

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A Bronx man is expected to serve four months in prison after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and drunken driving in connection with the Sept. 25, 2015, death of a 59-year-old bicyclist, according to lohud.com.

Ferrill McNeil, 67, admitted in Westchester County Court on Thursday to being drunk and speeding when his car struck Pedro Campos, who was riding a bike while wearing a reflective vest on Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers, according to lohud.com.

McNeil initially did not appear intoxicated after the 11 p.m. crash and told police that he did not see Campos in the darkness, according to lohud.com, which reported that a blood test administered to McNeil two hours after the incident measured his blood alcohol content at 0.09 percent, which is greater than the state’s 0.08 percent limit.

McNeil, who was found to be traveling 49 mph is a 30 mph zone, is expected to receive “shock probation” when sentenced. That would require him to serve four months in prison and five years of probation, according to lohud.com.
