YONKERS, N.Y. For the first time in five days, southwest Yonkers doesnt have to boil its water.
The boil-water advisory for southwest Yonkers was lifted early Saturday evening by the Westchester County Department of Health.
Test results of water samples taken by the health department and the Yonkers Water Bureau were satisfactory, the health department reports.
The boil-water advisory was first issued Monday as a precaution to protect against potential contamination after a contractor accidentally broke a 30-inch city water main that runs under the Saw Mill River parkway near the McLean Avenue exit.
The disruption left an estimated 50,000 to 70,000 residents in southwest Yonkers with limited or no water service. The main was repaired Wednesday afternoon.
