The contest asks Yonkers students to submit an essay in 250 to 500 words about a new "I Have A Dream" speech that shows how how the world will look 50 years from now. The contest is open to all Yonkers students and entries are due on Jan. 15 to the Mayor's Office at 40 S. Broadway in Yonkers.
The essays will be on display at City Hall. All winning entries, which will be announced on Jan. 17, will be selected from the elementary, middle and high school levels. One winner will be asked to read the essay at the Nepperhan Community Center's Martin Luther King Jr. Day Breakfast on Jan. 20.
For more information, residents are asked to visit the mayor's blog webpage.
