And if the scenes look familiar to Westchesterites and those that live in Yonkers in particular, that's because they are.

The show, which debuts Sunday at 8 p.m., was shot at several Yonkers locations including City Hall, 87 Nepperhan Aveue, Schlobohm Housing, Helena Avenue Will library, and Oakland Cemetery, to name a few.

According to Christina Gilmartin, Communications Director for Mayor Spano. the production, created by David Simon (of "The Wire" and "Treme" fame) and directed by Paul Haggis ("Crash”), is all about authenticity.

The six-part miniseries, which stars Oscar Isaac, is based on the non-fiction book by Dobbs Ferry resident Lisa Belkin, "Show Me A Hero" which explores notions of home, race and community through the lives of elected officials, bureaucrats, activists and ordinary citizens in Yonkers.

See earlier Daily Voice story on Lisa Belkin here.

Aside from Isaac, the show also features Catherine Keener, Alfred Molina, Winona Ryder, LaTanya Richardson-Jackson, Bob Balaban and Jim Belushi.
