Yonkers' Ridge Hill To Host Harvest Festival

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Westchester's Ridge Hill Farm his hosting a Harvest Festival on the farm on Saturday in Yonkers.

Ridge Hill Restaurants is teaming up with Local Hudson Valley Farmers for Trick-or-Treating at Ridge Hill that will include face painting, chalk art, pumpkin decorating and live music from The Deedle Deedle Dees, according to a press release. The event is set to begin at noon Saturday at Ridge Hill Farm.

"Our HarvestFest is not just about pumpkin painting, but about learning and having a connection with the local food community as well," representatives said in the release. 

For foodies, Ridge Hill is joining "Friends of the Farmer, Farm On!" and founder Tessa Edick for a special "Meet the Farmer/Meet the Chef" event that will feature chefs from Ridge Hill working with local farmers to make food using fresh ingredients, according to the release. The restaurants joining in on the day's events include: Havana Central, The Cheesecake Factory, Elevation Burger, Sur La Table and Brio Tuscan Grill, according to the release. 

The restaurants will team up with farmers from Equinox Farm, Migliorelli Farm, Hudson Valley Fresh, Cabot, Samascott Farms, Chaseholm Farm Creamery and Herondale Farm for the event, according to the release. 

Other Ridge Hill HarvestFest Activities include a trick-or-treat event, face painting, Jack-O-Lantern sticker crafts, natural pumpkin decorating at the Whole Foods Market tent, Orange Blot Art Spot contemporary art lab's chalk-painting, a cookie decorating activity and special pumpkin yogurt samples, according to the release. 

"The festivities will culminate in a rousing musical performance by renowned children’s rock band, The Deedle Deedle Dees," representatives said in the release. "Founded by Brooklyn-based teaching artist-songwriter Lloyd Miller, the Dees use rock-n-roll, country, hip hop, New Orleans piano music, punk and folk music to teach kids about American history, social action and the natural world."
