Residents of the city are invited to join Mayor Mike Spano, Yonkers police and other local community organizations for a series of outdoor events that will include police demonstrations, children's activities, food and other entertainment.
This year's event will be highlighted by an appearance from the Westchester County Police Aviation Unit, which will be at the First and Second precincts.
“National Night Out is a great opportunity for our residents to interact with their local police and community,” Spano said in a statement. “Yonkers has the greatest police department in the country and these events will remind our neighbors that our police are here to serve and keep our streets and families safe.”
National Night Out is an event geared toward strengthening community ties and generating drug and crime prevention awareness. Over 15,000 other communities throughout the country will participate in the event.
Yonkers Police precincts are at the following locations:
- 1st Precinct – Andrus Park – Central Park Avenue next to the Will Library
- 2nd Precinct – Coyne Park – 777 McLean Avenue (by Old Jerome Avenue)
- 3rd Precinct – Lincoln Park – South Broadway at McLean Avenue
- 4th Precinct – Ashburton Avenue and Summit Avenue
