Civil Service Commission Meeting: 10:00 a.m. The Civil Service Commission is responsible for administration and application of State Civil Service Law to the most current and prospective employees of the city, city agencies, and the Board of Education. Room 120, 40 S. Broadway.
U.S. Civics for Immigrants: From Native Language to English Literacy: 5 p.m. An English literacy and civics education course that helps beginning level adult English learners develop a foundation of skills, not only to master the English language but also navigate the society and government of the United States. It is targeted toward students who may have had little or no schooling, have a low level of literacy in their native language and share a common native language. The course includes lessons with activities and material that provide instruction in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Zoning Board of Appeals: 6 p.m. A public hearing will be held for appeals from the Building Commissioner's decisions and applications for variances, among other things. The Ceremonial Court Room, 4th Floor, City Hall, 40 S. Broadway.
Hudson Valley Blood Services Blood Drive: 12 p.m. 6 p.m. The Hudson Valley Blood Services will be holding a blood drive inside the library atrium. All donors must know their Social Security number and have ID. Teens who are 16-years-old must have written consent from a parent or guardian at the time of donation. Walk-ins welcome. Henry Haid Glass Houses: 7 p.m. The Long Island singer and piano player will perform with his band as part of the Cross County Summer Concert Series. Guests are invited to bring their blankets and beach chairs to The Green, in the center of the mall, to enjoy some of the tri-state area's best bands perform live. Concerts take place on the green near AX Armani Exchange, 8000 Mall Walk in Yonkers.

Summer Movie Theater: 10 a.m. Children ages 7 to 14 years are welcome to a screening of Mulan followed by Mirror Mirror after lunch. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. The Cedar Place School is at 20 Cedar Place.
Arts in the Afternoon: 12 p.m. Listen as service women profiled in Westchester Women & War tell their stories and participants share their own stories about war. The Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Ave.
Thursday, July 26
New York Riverlight International Film Festival Opening: 6:15 p.m. Come check out screenings of some of the best short films from around the world, as well as the best student film, including critically-acclaimed films from all four continents. Afterwards, an after party will feature live music, free aperitifs and dinner offers from local restaurants, including X20 Xaviers, Zuppa, La Bella Havana, Wholesome Goodness and The Dolphin. Admission to the film screenings at Yonkers Public Library Riverfront Branch, 1 Larkin Center and the post party at the secret garden at 1 Alexander St. is free.
Make and Take Teen Thursdays: 2 p.m. Head to the Yonkers Public Librarys Teen Scene, 3rd Floor Teen Room, for this Thursday program.
