Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway will kick-off a month of all-star performances Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
The high-profile performances throughout the month of April are part of the casino’s “Comedy Night,” a series that has been touted as the “best kept comedy secret in the tri-state area.”
“There’s nowhere you can go in Westchester that consistently has a good quality New York City comedy club-type of show,” Joe Praino, the man who helped bring Comedy Night to Yonkers, told The Daily Voice last year.
On Wednesday, the month-long lineup of big name performers begins with headliner Sherrod Small. The Brooklyn native currently stars on VH1’s “Best Week Ever” and has appeared in colleges and clubs across the country.
He will be joined by MC Jessimae Peluso, a former finalist at the Boston Comedy Festival and Derek Gaines, a New Jersey resident who has toured the tri-state comedy circuit.
The series continues on April 17 with a performance by funnyman Robert Kelly, a comedian whose credentials include appearances on “Comedy Central Presents,” HBO’s “Tourgasm,” and “Tough Crowd” with Colin Quinn.
Then, on April 24, Comedy Night will wrap up for the month with a performance by Johnny Lampert. A regular at New York City’s and Los Angeles’ comedy clubs Lampert has also appeared on MTV, A&E’s “Caroline’s Comedy Hour,” Comedy Central, NBC’s “Friday Night Lights,” and HBO Comedy Showcase.
All performances are held in the Good Times Room of the Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway. Admission is $5 for Empire Club members and $15 for non-members. Admission includes a free drink.
