A storm system will move into the area Friday night and into Saturday morning, causing rain in central and southern Westchester and sleet and a wintry mix in Northern Westchester, where temperatures will drop below freezing.
A Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service includes Northern Westchester as well as Northeast New Jersey and Southern Connecticut.
Snow could mix with freezing rain after midnight in Northern Westchester, with less than an inch of sleet and slush accumulation expected, mainly on grassy surfaces and secondary roads.
Precipitation should end by Saturday morning, which will lead to partly sunny skies, with temperatures climbing to nearly 40 degrees.
Sunday will begin with partly sunny skies and a high temperature of about 32 degrees.
A second storm system will move in late Sunday into early Monday that will bring more frozen precipitation for all of Westchester County. Up to a quarter inch of sleet or freezing rain is possible, which may cause problems with the Monday morning commute.
Snow is likely before 1 a.m. Monday morning, followed by snow, freezing rain and sleet between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then freezing rain and sleet after 4 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
