SCARSDALE, N.Y. - After a six-hour closure of the southbound lanes, both lanes have now reopened on a stretch of the Hutchinson River Parkway early Monday evening after a tractor-trailer carrying produce struck the Mamaroneck Road overpass in Scarsdale.
The incident occurred at 12:20 p.m., leading to hours-long gridlock in the area of exits 21 and 22.
The left lane reopened just before 7 p.m. and the right lane by 8 p.m.
Following the crash - which left the tractor trailer mangled and nearly bent down he middle - cleanup quickly began, with crews clearing debris around exit 22.
Police diverted traffic since the accident was reported around 1 p.m. and the New York State Department of Transportation sent an alert warning motorists that the roadway may not reopen for as many as six hours.
