Hudson Valley Wildfire Prompts Voluntary Evacuations, Shelters Open For Residents, Pets A wildfire spreading in the region has prompted voluntary evacuations as state and local agencies in New York work to control the blaze in the Hudson Valley. The fire, originating in Orange County near Jennings Creek and Sterling Forest, has crossed established containment lines, New York State Police said Saturday evening, Nov. 16.  Approximately 40 residences, from 32 to 120 Edgemere Ave., are under a voluntary evacuation order issued by the Town of Warwick Police Department. Benjamin Florer, 58, Librarian From White Plains, Dies Of Flu Complications Westchester native and Orange County high school graduate Benjamin Johnathan Florer – a devoted son, brother and uncle, a good friend to many, and a librarian and scholar – died peacefully on March 7 at his home in White Plains from complications related to the flu.  Ben, as he was known to his friends and family members, was born Jan. 19, 1960 in Yonkers.
