Cuomo said on Monday, Jan. 18 that he sent a letter to Pfizer Chairman and CEO Dr. Albert Bourla asking for the ability to purchase COVID-19 vaccines directly from Pfizer, as the company is not bound by commitments that Moderna made under the government's Operation Warp Speed. Westchester-based Regeneron has landed a $450 million federal contract to produce a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cocktail that is already nearing the final stages of clinical trials. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, which is located in Tarrytown, has been tasked with creating a cocktail that would include a mixture of antibodies that could help keep those infected by the virus from getting sicker and keep healthy people from getting sick.
