Westchester School District In Danger Of Losing State Aid
The New Rochelle School District is in danger of losing state aid because two middle schools will not meet the required number of instructional hours for students. Parents were made aware of this issue this week when interim Superintendent Magda Parvey sent a letter detailing the issue at hand. Human Rights Center Offers Support After Swastika Found At High School In Westchester
The Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center has lent its support to a Westchester School District after a swastika was found etched into a bathroom door. A four-inch swastika was found at New Rochelle High School on Wednesday, Nov. 7, prompting an investigation, school officials said. A temporary fix has been put in place to make the sign less recognized until employees at the school can make a permanent fix. Schools Superintendent In Westchester Out Early, Interim Named
New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Brian Osborne is out early, nine months before he was set to step down from his position at the helm of the district. The New Rochelle Board of Education announced that they have reached a separation agreement with Osborne, effective as of Tuesday, Oct. 2. In June, Osborne announced his intention to step down from his position, initially effective as of June 30, 2019. At Tuesday’s school board meeting, officials announced Osborne’s departure.
