Funeral arrangements have been announced for the chopper pilot and popular volunteer firefighter from the Hudson Valley who was killed in a helicopter crash attempting to land on a Manhattan skyscraper. Visitation for Tim McCormack will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 17, at the Miller Funeral Home on Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie. Pilot From Area Who Crashed On NYC Skyscraper Wasn't Licensed To Fly In Bad Weather, FAA Says
The chopper pilot from the Hudson Valley who was killed in a helicopter crash while attempting to land on a Manhattan skyscraper was not licensed to be flying in the bad weather conditions, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Tim McCormack, a longtime volunteer firefighter and former fire chief in Dutchess County, was the only victim of the crash on Monday, June 10 after he took off from the 34th Street heliport and crash-landed on top of a 750-foot building in the rain and fog. Pilot Killed In Helicopter Crash-Landing On Manhattan High-Rise From Hudson Valley, FAA Says
A helicopter pilot who was killed while crashing-landing on the roof of a building Monday afternoon in midtown Manhattan was from Dutchess County, the FAA reported. Tim McCormack of Clinton Corners was the only victim in the crash. He was reported deceased 45 minutes later. His father and grandfather were Poughkeepsie firefighters. Walmart confirmed Thursday that it closed and is closing 63 Sam’s Club stores across the United States, including several in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
