A big-hearted baseball fan from Westchester is making sure that all kids his age have the opportunity to “play ball.”
Scarsdale resident Evan Schiff, 12, is donating more than $20,000 in brand new baseball equipment, including bats, balls, gloves, helmets, catching gear, and more to help build up Mount Vernon’s RBI youth baseball program.

Westchester Student-Athlete Dies At 17 After Battling Cancer
A student-athlete who was entering his senior year at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers has died after a battle with cancer.
Brendan James Maguire, 17, of Patterson died on Monday, Aug 20. He had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma 14 months ago.
He played both basketball and baseball at Kennedy Catholic, where his courage and faith, displayed throughout his illness, inspired all those around him.
