White Plains falls in District 20 softball game

Kristen Farrell continued her stingy ways for Eastchester Sunday, tossing a three-hitter in a 4-0 victory over White Plains in the winners’ bracket final of the District 20 Little League  majors softball division at Sherman Park Little League.

Eastchester advanced to the championship, Thursday, 5:45 p.m. at Pat Henry Field in Valhalla. Eastchester awaits the losers’ bracket representative. Kensico will play White Plains, Tuesday, 5:45 p.m. at O’Rourke Field in Eastchester. The winner of this game will have to beat Eastchester twice to take the title.

Farrell added six strikeouts and helped herself with an RBI single in the fourth inning. Karly DiSanto and Sophie Tiso each singled and scored

“These girls have been playing together for six years and battling to go to the championship,” Eastchester manager Darin Farrell said. “They work very well together.” Eastchester opened the scoring in the first inning as Tiso singled, stole second and scored on an error. Farrell doubled the lead in the fourth, singling in DiSanto.

White Plains had only one runner reach second base. It received tow hits from Kayla Bonnet and one from Dana Jenson. “Kristen was hitting her spots and her drop ball was on today,” Darin Farrell said. “She was in control of her pitches and all the girls were making the plays.”

Gaby Critelli pitched well for White Plains, allowing five hits and one earned run. “I’ve known the White Plains coach for four years and I feel they have come a long way with their program,” said Darin Farrell of Carlos Bonnet.
