Unbeaten New Rochelle climbed three spots to No. 11 in the MaxPreps’ rankings, while Rye (4-0) fell 18 spots despite a solid win over Walter Panas.
Stepinac (3-0) beat winless Holy Cross of Flushing, 20-13. The Crusaders built a 20-0 lead before Holy Cross scored two fourth quarter touchdowns. Senior quarterback Tyquell Fields completed 11-of-15 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown for Stepinac. He also had a team-high 59 yards rushing.
New Rochelle posted an impressive 33-6 win over Arlington. Undefeated Clarkstown North (4-0) awaits the Huguenots on Friday at 6 p.m. at New Rochelle.
Eastchester, which finished 4-5 last year, rolled over Sleepy Hollow, 32-7, as John Arcidiacono rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns. He also scored on an interception return.
Eastchester is dedicating its season to former player Nick DePippo, who died in June after a fall in New York City. DePippo, 23, was a 2011 graduate of Eastchester.
Rye defeated Walter Panas, 32-18 and faces Our Lady of Lourdes on Friday. A victory would send the Garnet into its final regular season game against archrival Harrison with an unbeaten record. Rye has won nine of the last 10 meetings against Harrison.
Carmel (4-0) has also opened eyes with a 4-0 start. Running back KC Correa has rushed for 537 yards and eight touchdowns entering a key game Saturday when it hosts Scarsdale at 3 p.m. Carmel is bouncing back after going 4-5 last year.
