Medeot Pitches White Plains Over Stepinac

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Chris Medeot’s young high school pitching career hit a high note Saturday when the sophomore tossed a three-hit shutout to lift White Plains High School to an 8-0 victory over neighborhood rival Archbishop Stepinac.

Medeot struck out six and allowed just three hits and walked only one batter over seven innings to earn the victory.

“I had never done it before a few years ago,” Medeot said. “Over the past couple years I’ve been working at it a lot. In the offseason I’ve been strengthening my arm and working on different pitches to throw. It’s good that the work has been paying off up here on the varsity level.”

Medeot got strong support from his defense, which included infielders Steven Schiavone and Tommy Bertram and outfielders Sean Johnson and Cameron Crabbe.

“This is actually the first baseball game that we’ve played pretty much all aspects of the game correctly,” Tigers coach Marcel Galligani said. “We played well and very fundamentally sound.”

Tommy Bertram, Sean Johnson, Kevin Nicholson and Cameron Crabbe each drove in a run for White Plains.
