County Wiffleball Battle Set for August 6

Arm yourself with plastic bats and wiffle balls -- the Westchester County Department of Parks and Recreation invites players and teams to participate in its Fourth Annual Wiffle Ball Tournament on Saturday, August 6 at V.E. Macy Park in Ardsley.

The tournament will consist of two age divisions: AA Division for players ages 13 to 16 and AAA Division for players 17 and older.

According to several sources, including Wikipedia and wiffle.com, the game originated in 1953 when David N. Mullany of Fairfield, Connecticut designed a ball that curved easily for his 12-year old son to play with in the family’s back yard. Wiffle.com is a website run by the Mullany family.

Each team roster is limited to a maximum of five players. Registration is $75 per team.
