White Plains Youth Bureau Offers GED, ESL Classes

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – White Plains residents can register for GED and English as a second language (ESL) classes to be held at the city’s Youth Bureau this fall.

The Youth Bureau is partnering with Southern Westchester BOCES Adult Learning Center to make it easier for residents to improve their language skills or earn their GED. Registration is already open for ESL classes. The last day will be Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Youth Bureau on 11 Amherst Place.

ESL classes begin Sept. 10 and students may choose morning classes from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the White Plains Youth Bureau, or from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the White Plains Community Center at 5 Mitchell Place. GED classes begin Sept. 15 and end Dec. 15 and will also be held at the Youth Bureau. Registration is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Registration for both classes costs $25. Checks or money orders can be made payable to Westchester Community College.
