Superintendent Paul Fried reported on the completed session held during July. Approximately 190 students in grades kindergarten through third grade were served, and the average daily attendance rate was 85 percent, which the board noted is an exceptional rate for summertime.

The program focused on literacy, and students were selected to attend on the basis of their need for additional support. The K-2 students received daily instruction in reading, writing and phonics/spelling. They also used instructional software.

In the third grade program, daily instruction was provided in both ELA and math, also using instructional software.

Fourteen teachers and six teaching assistants conducted the program, led by administrator Gary West.
