“My mom always told me to keep the door open to explore opportunities," said Terminello. "At Stepinac, it was easy to do that because the school offers a supportive atmosphere with a strong sense of camaraderie. It nurtured me and helped me to succeed.”
“I am honored to be selected to attend the academy. After my four years, I look forward to serving the nation as a naval officer.”
In addition to encouragement from his mother, he said he was inspired by his father who served in the Navy and Air Force.
At Stepinac, Terminello has been co-captain of the varsity swimming team and captain of the golf team, a sport he wishes to continue during his time at the academy. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and several clubs including student government, the yearbook club, the Italian club, drama studies stage crew and most recently president of his homeroom club.
“We are extremely proud of Eric and his accomplishments at Stepinac,” said Stepinac President, Father Thomas Collins. “He will be an asset to the Naval Academy and will gain a top quality educational experience.”
Terminello will graduate from Stepinac in May and will enter the Naval Academy in July.
